Scriptures for Sunday May 21

2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Theologians have used the phrase “wonderful exchange” to describe what Christ has done for us. He took our sin, and gave us His righteousness. It is wonderful that He would do that for us, and wonderful that we have new life in Him. It is no wonder that Paul seek to spread the word of this offer God makes, that in spite of our sinfulness we can be reconciled to God.

Romans 10:1-4, 11-15

Paul has laid out clearly the theology of salvation in the preceding chapters. Now he sums it up, “for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But that won’t happen, he realizes, unless people hear the Gospel, and that won’t happen unless someone is sent to preach to them.
